The Elephant Transit Home, supported by the Born Free Foundation, is connected to the Udawalawe National Park, a park famous for its vast herds of elephants. The home rehabilitates and prepares orphaned juvenile elephants to return to the wild, generally the national park, when they are five years old. The home is open to visitors at feeding times when you can enjoy watching the boisterous young elephants enjoying their milk.
