Explore South Koera's most beautiful mountain
Seoraksan, or Mt. Seorak, is in the northern portion of the Taebaek Mountain Range, located in the northeast corner of South Korea. It is the third highest mountain in South Korea and is considered by many to be its most beautiful.
Mt Seorak National Park is a spectacularly scenic area of high peaks (28 to be precise) and craggy bluffs. These varied and dramatic bluffs give the mountain a unique shape, including Gongnyong or Dinosaur ridge, so named because it is supposed to resemble the spikey back of a dinosaur. These fantastic rock towers are joined surrounding, waterfalls, and fragrant pine forests, making Seoraksan a popular mountain in South Korea and a year-round attraction from hiking in the summer to the colourful foliage in the autumn as the leave change their colour.
Designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Seoraksan is also a habitat for many rare species of plants and animals, now no longer found anywhere else in Korea. The area is simply an unmissable part of Korea’s natural landscape.
